About PASS

Poole Accommodation & Support Scheme (PASS) is an independent charitable organisation that was set up by the Poole Housing Forum in 1998 to respond to the shortage of affordable rented housing in town. Here you can read about our vision, our aims and our objectives.

Our Vision
is to enable people in housing need to access and sustain suitable private rented sector tenancies.

Our Aims
Enabling
  • To provide practical support to secure appropriate and affordable accommodation for homeless or inadequately housed single people or childless couples in the Poole area
 
Partnership
  • To work in partnership with housing providers to increase the availability and quality of accommodation
 
Support
  • To promote ongoing support for clients and landlords to ensure stable and successful tenancies
 
Service
  • To promote good practice and effective services, and to conduct all activities with respect for the individual
 
Development
  • To continue to develop and to meet the needs of the landlords, clients and the local community

Our Objectives

  • To accept referrals, with PASS criteria, from a wide range of agencies working within the community
  • To interview clients and assess their individual needs
  • To identify accommodation that is appropriate to those needs
  • To build up a register of private landlords and others willing to let accommodation to our client group
  • To develop a register of providers of supported lodgings
  • To introduce a deposit guarantee scheme
  • To carry out appropriate checks on the suitability of accommodation offered
  • To develop a resettlement service
  • To offer information and training on the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants
  • To harness the full potential of staff and local volunteers
  • To promote equality of opportunity and social inclusion
  • To establish and review a comprehensive range of organisational policies and procedures that support these objectives
  • To continually assess and respond to the challenging environment in which we work
